The Mahoosuc Arts Council brings programs in the arts to the schools and communities in the greater Bethel area of Western Maine. Founded in 1986, the Mahoosuc Arts Council is committed to booking quality, affordable performances that appeal to a wide range of ages and interests. The Council also sponsors the Mollyockett Day festivities and efforts by other groups to bring programming in the arts to the Bethel region.

Akwaaba Drum and Dance Ensemble
This group brings West African drumming and dance to life in their energetic performance. Students will be offered the opportunity to experience the rich and subtle rhythmic patterns and styles of different tribal groups of West Africa. Students will also get the chance to ask questions after the performance.

MacTalla Mor, Gaelic for Great Echo, is a national touring band featuring The Great Highland Bagpipes, Piano, Vocals and Bodhran in a dynamic mix of Traditional Celtic, Roots Rock, Calypso, Blues and Jazz. This will be a dynamic and energetic performance!

The silent film The General, directed by Buster Keaton, is brought to life with a score written and performed by a three man orchestra using found instruments, percussion and state of the art electronics. A historic film seen in an entirely new way!

Bingham Auditorium on the Gould Academy Campus
MacTalla Mor, Gaelic for Great Echo, features the Great Highland Bagpipes, Piano, Vocals, and Bodhran in a dynamic mix of traditional celtic roots, rock, jazz, hip hop, calypso and fusion. This will be a magical performance that will bridge the gap between the past and present.
This performance is funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.
Admission to this program for the public is $10 for adults and $6 for students/seniors

For piano soloist and composer Cody Michaels, the piano is a "way to connect with the mystery of creation and every song is a prayer". Formerly a park ranger, Appalachian trail caretaker and farm hand, Cody's unique, passionate musical expressions will capture your imagination.
